2010 Riverfest
Poster Artwork Unveiled!
WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita Festivals, Inc. (WFI), a non-profit corporation with the purpose of creating diverse community celebrations, announced today its Riverfest poster and button artwork for the 2010 Festival, via a live U-Stream video announcement at Douglas Photographic Imaging.
This years’ theme is “River Me Timbers” and the poster artwork, created by Gardner Design, is themed around a raccoon pirate, strumming his guitar while floating down the river on his treasure chest. QuikTrip Corporation is once again sponsor of the poster art.
The button design for 2010 was also unveiled. Much like the poster, it showcases the pirate theme and emulates the colors and styles of this year’s merchandise and poster artwork.
“We’re back to ‘critters’ this year in our artwork and this little ‘critter’ needs a name, which is where the public comes in to play. The ‘Captain Who?’ Name the Raccoon Contest begins today and will continue until April 5. To submit a name for this Festival pirate, log on the Riverfest blog at wichitariverfestival.com and download the entry form.
“Fax, e-mail or mail your entry form back in. A panel of Festival volunteers will narrow the list down to 10 choices that will be posted on our website, where you will have the chance to vote for your favorite. The name that receives the most votes will be announced at the Grand Opening Ceremony on May 7 and will win a $1,000 booty!
“We also have a new initiative this year called the Riverfest Show & Save program. Any area business can participate by offering a special discount to people wearing or showing their Riverfest button in their store beginning April 5 through May 15. The discount can be part of a regular in-store promotion or an entirely new discount. The goal is to help local businesses prior to and during Riverfest and provide people who purchase a Riverfest button with even greater value.
“You can find the Show & Save sign-up sheet on the front page of the Riverfest Web site. Fill it out and send it back in to us by Monday, February 8 to participate,” Wright concluded.
The Riverfest button will remain five dollars, just as last year, and will be available for purchase online at wichitariverfestival.com beginning February 15. Buttons will also be available at four major retailer locations – Dillons, QuikTrip, Walgreens and Walmart, beginning April 5.
Watch the video of the announcement at wichitariverfestival.com and get ready to “River me Timbers”.
2010 WFI Official Sponsors: Access Group, LLC, Bud Light, Don Hattan Chevrolet, FedEx Office, Howerton + White, Legacy Bank, Metro Courier, Pepsi and PrairieLand Partners.
